Hi guys! Today's blog post is brought to you by Emma McClure, Hannah Sims, and Meredith Frey (pictured above, in order from left to right)!
We just finished our second full day in Hungary and boy it was long! We started the morning with another delicious breakfast in the hotel then left for our day in the countryside north of Budapest. After a bus and tram ride, we made it to the train station where we met our favorite Hungarian, Emese, and hopped on a train to Visegrád.
Adventures in Visegrád!!
-We snuck a peek into a Catholic church service where we heard some beautiful singing
-While waiting for the ferry to take us across the Danube to the Buda side we hung out at the beach (and found a bone...?)
-Emese lead us to a "hidden gem" castle that we explored for over an hour...zoom in on the first pic for a surprise ;)
-Next, we got lunch at a Renaissance-themed restaurant where we were served soup, turkey legs, and chestnut purée. The best part, however, was definitely the costumes!
-After lunch, we got back on the bus and headed to our next destination!
Adventures in Szentendre!!
-We started in Prof Hanson's favorite spot–the Micro Museum! Here we saw artwork the size of the head of a pin through magnifying glasses
- Next, we split up for about two hours and checked out some art galleries, a cake shop, a chocolate shop, and some cute stores!
-We wrapped up our visit watching the sunset over Szentendre
The Rest of the Night!!
-We took more trams and buses and the subway (the FIRST continental subway in Europe) back to the Pest side/our hotel
-Finally, we all split up for some dinner and an Aldi trip
We are loving it here in Hungary and we can't WAIT for our first day of math and Hungarian lessons tomorrow!!
